Puppy potty training

Accidents drop when the interval is honest. Log what happened. Vinny times the next out from age, breed, and those logs — not a downloaded week-one chart.

The loop

  • Same door, same outdoor spot when you can.
  • Wait. Mark the pee or poop. Pay immediately.
  • Inside miss: interrupt if you catch it, carry out, then clean with an enzymatic cleaner. No scolding after the fact.
  • Log outside and inside. The log is the coach.

How often

Bladder capacity roughly tracks age in months, in hours, capped around four. An eight-week-old is closer to every hour-plus after sleep and meals. Toy breeds often need tighter cadence — see Yorkie or Chihuahua care pages.

What not to do

Rubbing a nose in it, crate-for-punishment, or “they know they were wrong.” They knew you were scary. Vinny’s method is positive reinforcement. We will not suggest otherwise.

Vinny’s job

One tap to log pee or poop. Today shows the next out. Ask Vinny can cite the streak and the last accident hour. That is the difference between a care plan and a blog post. Start free — the potty logger is not a Plus feature.

FAQ

How do I potty train a puppy?

Take them out on a schedule, mark and pay outdoor success, clean indoor accidents without scolding, and log both. The log is what teaches the next-out timer — yelling after the fact teaches nothing.

How often should a puppy pee?

Age in months, in hours, is a starting point (capped). After naps, meals, and play, go out anyway. Vinny tightens that interval from your logs, not a PDF week.

Should I punish indoor accidents?

No. You missed the window. Clean with an enzymatic cleaner, note it, and shorten the next interval. Scare methods are not how Vinny coaches.
